Back to Brockville on Saturday

The Lucas Oil ASCS Patriots go from one side of Ontario to the other as Brockville is the next stop on the Five Crown Tour.

The tour returns to the Brockville Ontario Speedway this Saturday for the 18th race of the year and the third of four races in the Riverside Bar and Grill King of the St. Lawrence. The first trip to “The BOS” was one to remember and this weekend should be no different.

Bryan Howland, the current Patriot point leader from Auburn, NY scored his third and most recent win of the year after moving around Alain Bergeron with four laps remaining. Those two were left to duke it out after Brian McDonald and Rick Wilson, two former modified favorites at Brockville, got together with just five laps remaining.

McDonald and Wilson are sure to be up near the front again on Saturday Night, with each seeking revenge this time around.

Jared Zimbardi, of Little Valley, NY, had his chances at winning a month ago go out the window on the opening lap when Shawn Donath spun in front of the No. 35 and crumpled Zimbardi’s top wing. Even though he would hang on for eighth, “The Juice” would hand over the point lead that night. Zimbardi had since got the point lead back but once again lost it Friday when he broke the steering arm on his No. 35 at Ohsweken.

Don Adamczyk has never been closing to a feature win than he was at Brockville in 2006. “The Williamsville Warrior” won the dash back in July and looks to parlay that in to a feature this time around.

Bubba Broderick, from Brookfield, CT, charged from the back of the pack to score the runner-up finish five weeks ago. The defending Insinger Race Fuels Rookie of the Year had a hard crash at Ohsweken Friday and will have plenty of work to do this week just to make it up North.

Alain Bergeron, from St. Pie, QC, heads in to the event as the Riverside King of the St. Lawrence Point Leader. The veteran in the No. 8B has been strong all year long and expects to be in the mix this weekend.

A number of Patriot regulars expect to make the trip over the 1000 Islands Bridge, including Scott Kreutter, Derek Jonathan, Dave Wickham, Gordy Button and Brandan Warner. Leading Rookie of the Year contender Devin Caron will not have to cross the border as the youngster will make the short trip down from his Cornwall, Ontario home.

A trip to Eastern Ontario means that names such as Michael Parent, Kyle and April Wilson, Paul Pekkonen, Tyler Rand, Chris Jones and Daniel Lampron will get to make the short trip to the high-banked ¼-mile. Doug Bowman and Travis Cunningham are among a group of Southern Ontario shoes slated to travel up from the other side of the province.
